Do you rewrite everything?
No. We replace the system piece by piece, so the business never depends on one big switchover. If a part does need a rewrite, we say which part and why.
Your legacy software holds years of data and rules nobody wrote down. We modernize it step by step: new interfaces around it, data moved without getting lost, and old parts replaced while the business keeps working.
Let’s talk about your productFor founders and teams who need to connect, extend or replace a system they can’t switch off.
The usual plan is to rebuild everything and switch over on one day. It’s the riskiest way to do it. The old system knows things no specification lists, the rebuild takes longer than planned, and until it’s done both systems need maintaining. AI tools make the new code faster to write, but they don’t tell you what the old code does or why. Incremental modernization starts from that knowledge and moves one part at a time.
We read the existing code, data and interfaces with you and map what depends on what. That map sets the order of the work.
We build APIs around the existing system, so new parts can talk to it without changing it. That can be a useful result on its own: other applications can use its data straight away.
Data migration gets its own plan: what moves, in which order, how it’s checked and how to go back. Years of records shouldn’t get lost because a field meant something different ten years ago.
Each part moves to the new platform once it’s ready, while the rest keeps running on the old one. You, or the engineers you work with, build it with us, so you know the new platform as well as the old.
Tell us what the system does and what has to change. Together we agree the first part to modernize, who is responsible for what, and what counts as done. That can be a scoped project, work embedded with your team or a monthly retainer.
Let’s talk about your productWork with a team at Zurich University of Applied Sciences.
“Our work with Zone2 has covered APIs, web applications and identity management within our existing systems. They work independently, take ownership of the technical details and involve us when decisions need our input. They also provide practical training that helps our team build its own skills.”
No. We replace the system piece by piece, so the business never depends on one big switchover. If a part does need a rewrite, we say which part and why.
Whatever the existing system is built on. We start by reading the code, and we choose the new platform with you based on what you can maintain, not on what’s newest.
Yes, the approach depends on it. Old and new run side by side, connected through interfaces, until the last part has moved.
You build it with us. We explain the decisions as we go and offer practical training, so you, or the engineers you work with, can maintain and extend the new platform on your own.
Tell us what the system does and what needs to change. That’s enough for a first conversation.
